But according to the proud Mom and Dad, everything went pretty well. Brendan and I got the exciting phone call that baby Mendenhall (no name at the time) had been born, and brought t Tristan and Emily Chick-Fil-A since I'm sure they hadn't really eaten anything all day. On the way there, it occurred to me that Brendan had never really seen or been around a baby this new. Neither one of us had any idea how much seeing this baby would affect both of us, but particularly him since this was first.
When we got there, it was just T and E and the baby, and I'm serious when I say I have never seen Emily look so beautiful. I mean, she had just given birth, was breaking a fever, and probably felt completely wiped out, but she was absolutely glowing and in such good spirits. Tristan was absolutely precious, a complete natural with his new son, who (no bias at all) is seriously the most beautiful newborn baby I've ever seen. His face actually looked like a face, not a frog, his skin was so perfect and pink, with the cutest nose you've ever seen.
When Brendan held him, he was speechless. It was really a sweet moment for him. And he's been gushing about him ever since. The morning after we saw him, Brendan woke up saying he never knew he could love something that small so much. This is the first grandchild/nephew on our side, so it's really been a cool experience for everyone.
We really can't put into words how blessed we feel to be down here for Tristan and Emily during such an amazing time. We can't wait to take little Hayden out to the beach and the park and be the "fun" aunt and uncle!
Welcome to the world Hayden Reed! You are so loved.
these pictures are precious!! It's so funny, the other day Bobby and I were talking about kids names and we decided when we have kids if we have a boy we want to name him Hayden Reese. :)
