Pumpkin Time!

We've been looking forward to today for weeks. With weekend trips and visitors, the last few weekend have been a little hectic. Don't get me wrong, they've been great, but with a new (real) job, weekends seem to go by so fast, leaving little time to recharge.

So today, Brendan and I planned to sleep in, go to lunch and the outlets for a little shopping, then to the pumpkin patch, and back home for a little pumpkin carving.

And what a nice day it was. Relaxing, low-key, just what we needed. It started with French toast breakfast in bed (B's specialty) and then leisurely getting ready for the day. I think I've kind of adapted to being a morning person, but sleeping until 9:30 was much needed.

We moseyed on out to the outlets where I got some super cute black pumps from the Loft and Brendan snagged a great deal on some sweaters at Banana Repulic. Man, there were so many great bargains today! I really could have gone a little over the top, especially at Banana Republic (a place I consider my mother ship). Needless to say, Brendan got some ideas for Christmas gifts. He should have no problem in that department!

So after we were all shopped out, we made the trek to Legare Farms on John's Island. I've never been out that way, so covering some ground was pretty cool. I have to say that the trees down here are pretty cool. At first I wasn't thrilled that most of the trees don't really change into warm fall goodness come October (or November, or any time, really). But driving through the windy tunnle of low oaks dripping with Spanish moss was pretty amazing. There's something about the lowcountry that's kinda of mysterious, kind of creepy, but totally enthralling. Maybe it's because these trees are so old, or the way the fog creeps up from the swampy water, I don't know. But it's pretty cool. And since I get the feeling we won't be here forever, I'm trying to soak it all in while I can.

Anyway, the pumpkin patch was one of the best I've been to in a while. For one thing, it was an actual farm where the pumkins where the pumpkins were actually grown. Ok, so I saw a few pumkins with Harris Teeter stickers on them, but there were just as many that were still on the vine.

After picking out three perfect pumpkins, we headed back through the oak tunnel to Muddy Water Coffee Bar for a quick joe pick-me-up and on to Lowe's for some mums.

Our house feels so warm and fallish now! I love it! I was affraid that given the warm weather and lack of oodles of colorful trees, it wouldn't really feel like fall this year. Well, I was wrong.

It's definitely pumpkin time!
