The mornings are cool and crisp, no lingering humidity or heavy heat (most days, at least). Leaves are deep green, on the verge of copper, coral, and plum saturation. The lime-colored sea grass slowly fades to a warm toasty gold and the water takes on a cool gray cast. Autumn is sneakily seeping into the low-country, and I have to say, I am more than ready.
Along with the beautiful fall colors comes a plethora of other post-summer treasures. I had my first Pumpkin Spice latte from S-Bucks last weekend. I never realize how much I love them until I have them for the first time each year. To me, Pumpkin Spice lattes usher in all other fall pleasures like football, tailgating, pumpkin patches, apple cider, and (my fav) boots and jackets.
Yes, we do enjoy a nice Indian summer here in Charleston, but you can start to see it, smell it, and feel it. It's getting to be my favorite time of year :)
Lauren,
ReplyDeleteI love the description of the changing season in your first paragraph. You definitely sound like an author and I can't wait to see what your book(s) are like when they come out!
