Spring has Sprung!

Breezy 72 °, sunny, not a cloud in the sky- this Saturday was the perfect way to kick off springtime. Like everyone else out and about on their bikes, walking their dogs, and having lunch on patios all over town, we welcomed the fairer season with open arms. The pool wasn't "officially" open, but we're not huge on formalities, so we let ourselves in by way of hopping the fence and napped on lounge chairs and listened to the breeze swish through the tall palmetto trees along with a hand full of what seemed like pretty tame spring-breakers who also took advantage of the low the fence. Yes, the pool was pretty gross, so no dipping, just lounging, which I can't complain about.

But you know what they say: April showers bring May flowers. Ok, so it's not quite April, but I feel like anything warm weather related comes a bit early here, so as could be expected it rained pretty much all day yesterday. Poor Brendan had washed the car and put on a coat of wax when the skies opened up for the type of rain that only comes in the spring. The kind that smells kind of like mud and leaves a budding green lushness on once naked, arthritic branches and dry golden grass. I don't know much about waxing cars, but somehow the rain's inopportune timing was really tragic.

We had the windows open to air out the winter staleness that's occupied our place for the last several months and something in the air really put us in the mood for some spring cleaning. Actually it was like spring cleaning on steroids because I got rid of not two, not three, but SEVEN huge trash bags of clothes, shoes, and general crap and have a huge pile of old magazines to take the recycling center. You should see my closet. For one thing, it actually looks clean, which, to be fair, it hasn't looked in months. And it looks pretty empty. I'd say I got rid of about 70 percent of my clothes. That may sound sad, but it actually feels amazing. And the best part is, it gives me reason to shop! Yaay :)

So I guess you could say this weekend was full of seasonal clichés- Arpil(ish) showers, spring cleaning, I even saw a bunch of baby ducks in a pond by our house. Hello, Spring. We've really missed you.
