Ok, maybe one big Thanksgiving post was a bit ambitious. Mostly because moving the pictures around is exhausting. So if you're reading this, scroll down and read the post below first.
So fast forward to the week after fake Thanksgiving to the week of the real day that the Pilgrims and Indians gave thanks and ate corn together. We decided to mix it up a bit this year and take off to the Big Apple to soak in some big city lights, crisp air, and colorful foliage. I guess you could throw in fabulous shopping, late-night vino, and more blisters than I car to think about too.
Living at the beach (and a pretty dang cool one at that!), we're kind of over the whole beach vacation thing. So we decided to make this our big vacay of the year, which meant we crammed as much as possible into the four and a half days we had in the city that never sleeps. I could go into great detail describing all the fun we had, but instead, and in true New York style, I will whiz through it. Here are the things we learned in NYC:
1. Central Park is an amazing place to relax/people watch/ dog walk/ talk to bums/eat hot dogs/observe beautiful tranquil nature in the midst of a crazy city.
2. I could be thoroughly happy living in a Bergdorf window display.
3. Don't get in the elevator in the Apple store in Midtown East. You'll get stuck and people will laugh at you through the clear glass. This didn't happen to us. We were laughing guiltily on the outside. Just a word to the wise.
4. Going sockless in boots the first day is not a good idea.
5. Eating cupcakes/bagels/pizza daily is perfectly acceptable as you will walk it off in about an hour.
6. The more black you wear, the more out-of-towners will ask you for directions.
7. Getting up early for the parade is so worth it.
8. Cold weather DOESN'T suck!
9. "Memphis" is an amazing, amazing show.
10. People with great imaginations often have a poor sense of direction. Thank goodness for iPhones. And Brendan.
Anywho, it was a blast. I took about 2938737435 pictures, so posting them is limited. I'll let ya know when I get the album up on Picasa. Here's a few to hold you over....
Brian Fellows. "Have a Whitty Christmas" window display appreciation for SNL.
Ello, ello Jimmy!
