Desert Song

There have been a lot of ups and downs for us this month. First the accident, then a wonderful new car, then a fabulous trip to New York with my mom and aunt (which I will post about soon), and now so challenges at work.

On my way to the airport in Myrtle Beach last Thursday, this song came on my iPod and even though I've heard Hillsong's Desert Song a few times, I felt like I was really listening to the lyrics for the time. In that moment, I really felt a connection with the last verse ("This is my prayer in the harvest, when blessing and providence flow.")

And while I still feel extremely blessed, I'm up against some major challenges at work. Today, I was sitting at my desk, feeling really frustrated and down and guess what song just happened to come on my iPod? I can't be dense enough to think it was a coincidence. Now I'm hanging on to the second verse.

I love these words so much because they're encouraging no matter what you're going through.

This is my prayer in the desert
And all that's within me feels dry
This is my prayer in the hunger in me
My God is a God who provides

And this is my prayer in the fire
In weakness or trial or pain
There is a faith proved
Of more worth than gold
So refine me Lord through the flames

And I will bring praise
I will bring praise
No weapon forged against me shall remain

I will rejoice
I will declare
God is my victory and He is here

And this is my prayer in the battle
And triumph is still on it's way
I am a conqueror and co-heir with Christ
So firm on His promise I'll stand

All of my life
In every season
You are still God
I have a reason to sing
I have a reason to worship

This is my prayer in the harvest
When favor and providence flow
I know I'm filled to be emptied again
The seed I've received I will sow
